We offer multiple selections for pottery classes, with commitment levels ranging from short one-time classes to multi-week series. Whether you’re interested in spending just one evening enjoying a fun peek into the pottery process or you want to gain the skills to create pottery on your own, Third Place Pottery has a phenomenal team of instructors that will help you get the pottery experience that your looking for.

One-off classes

Introduction to pottery - $125

Try out pottery in our one-time introductory class—perfect for beginners curious to get their hands in clay.

In this two-hour session, you'll learn the basics from your instructor and get hands-on guidance as you create your own piece. After class, your piece will be kiln-fired, we’ll glaze it with the glaze of your choice, and it will go through its final firing. You’ll pick up your finished piece 3-4 weeks after your class.

Beginner Wheel - $450

LEARN THE FUNDAMENTALS OF WHEEL-THROWN POTTERY IN OUR 6-WEEK BEGINNER CLASS—NO EXPERIENCE NEEDED

Each week includes two hours of instruction and feedback where you'll make bowls, mugs, and more, gradually building skills in precision and independence. You'll get 25 pounds of clay, access to tools and glazes, and unlimited 24/7 studio access to practice. By the end, you’ll walk away with finished pieces and the confidence to keep throwing.

Intermediate Wheel - $450

Advance your Pottery Skills IN 4 WEEkS —PREVIOUS WHEEL THROWING EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

This four-week class is intended for students who have previous wheel throwing experience and are ready to advance their skills. The class will dive deeper into the mechanics and aesthetics of functional forms, and explore the different surface designs and glaze techniques. There is opportunity for differentiation and students are encouraged to come to class with a form in mind to work on, but it’s okay if they would rather just show up with an open mind, ready to learn!

Hand Building - $450

EXPLORE THE WAYS OF BUILDING CERAMICS WITH YOUR HANDS IN OUR 6-WEEK CLASS—no experience needed

Learn the basics of hand building ceramics with us! No previous experience with clay is needed— this beginner level course will introduce you to techniques like pinching, coiling, and slab building to enable you to create your own pottery without a wheel.

This class meets once every week for two hours of instruction and includes unlimited 24/7 access to the studio for six weeks.
